Products from the entire history of the company are presented on sveral floors of exhibition space. Interactive media technology and creative presentations transform Märklin's history into a captivating experience. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 - 18:00.
In addition to the exhibition and the fascinating model railway layout, you can also visit our "Märklin Live" glass construction.
Several times a day we open the doors between the exhibition and the final assembly of the locomotives so that you can see live how the detailed Märklin models are assembled. Tue - Thu: 10 am - 3 pm & Fri: 10 am - 1 pm.
The exhibition uses a dynamic concept to tell examples of stories about technology and playtime fun on four levels.
The tin toys from the early decades of the company, which was founded in 1859, open the exhibition in an entertaining way. The finely crafted doll's kitchens and tin toys for girls from the Wilhelminian era are particularly fascinating. Divided into various themed booths, visitors to the museum on the second floor "Mythos Märklin" can discover the surprisingly wide variety of Märklin products on land, at sea and in the air. From functional household appliances such as children's stoves and delicate carriages to steam engines and clockwork-powered ships. Particularly popular - the collection of Märklin metal construction sets or the Märklin Sprint racing track.
On the second level, everything revolves around the theme of "Märklin locomotives". Spectacular locomotive models such as the H0 "Millennium Crocodile" with its 950 platinum body and rubies as shunting lights or the class 89 Z-gauge tender locomotive built into a light bulb also attract a lot of attention. The motor-controlled "Precision" installation is also an "eye-catcher". It uses "crocodile" models in the 1, H0, N (Minitrix) and Z gauges to convey a sense of precision. Visitors can literally "take a close look" at quality and attention to detail.
With a virtual reality application in the 87:1 replica driver's cab of the model of an E 10 locomotive, visitors of all ages can float into a Märklin locomotive in 3D animation with the help of VR glasses.
For the youngest visitors, there are a total of 12 children's stations where they can collect stamps, as well as two spacious play corners on each floor, equipped with Märklin my world play systems.
An assembly line also provides a glimpse into everyday production, which impressively demonstrates the various steps involved in assembling a model as part of "transparent production". The Märklineum entertains model and toy enthusiasts of all generations: Grandparents and parents as well as girls and boys - and offers a unique look into the children's rooms of the centuries.
